Une tortue caouanne a choisi une plage de Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône pour y déposer ses œufs !

Experts from the Emergence association, the French Mediterranean Sea Turtle Network, and agents from the French Office for Biodiversity then confirmed the presence of the nest. Before laying her eggs, the turtle even walked more than 200 meters along the beach in search of the perfect spot.

This choice was likely no coincidence. Managed as part of the Port’s natural areas management plan since 2007, this unspoiled beach offers favorable conditions for wildlife thanks to low visitor traffic and limited light pollution.

Congratulations to our eco-guards, whose daily work contributes to the preservation of remarkable natural areas in the heart of the port district.

You, too, should stay alert:
if you observe remarkable species or similar events in nature, don’t hesitate to report them to the relevant authorities in your area.
